The Weekend Muse – Sonnet One, Eve

Expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise

Within this reflection, a second stare,
A jagged question caught within a look,
Rippled eyes asking if I take the dare,
To look through the hued glass, and then all shook.

What do I see? Is there more? A brighter,
Light, a sweeter taste, are by this glass stained,
Concealed, temptation’s questions swirl and stir,
As I stare through this window and its panes.

Ambers, reds, blues, disguised light, ornament,
Is but distraction, a call to action,
Shattered glass will end this blessed torment,
And full light bring a complete satisfaction.

An apple held, it her reflection caught,
Life seen, untasted, by her we are taught.
