There is a new Star Wars movie coming out, have you heard? It’s either that or every product in the world now comes with a John Williams soundtrack. I am feeling ‘The Force’ when it comes to everything from car tires to Target. Special.
Even though the buildup perturbs a little, who are we kidding? This is going to be amazing. Star Wars – The Force Awakens could be generational in its impact. It might be one of those Where were you when? moments. The Beatles came to the States, Elvis passed away, Bruce became Kaitlyn….okay, no…but you get the idea.
Why is Star Wars such a big deal??? Many, many reasons, of course – but I will put it at one. For all of its science fiction allure and groundbreaking special effects and compelling universal struggle in the midst of a son finding his father – Star Wars’ grit is found in its faith. The films are about the question – what do you believe is possible?
The greatest line in the films – and there are many contenders – in my opinion is this one – it’s 12 seconds so stop and take a look if you like -(Yoda and power of faith).
Our success is determined by our faith. We achieve what we believe, and in faith we find the power to make the impossible into the real. For all the light sabers, X-Wings, and Death Stars in the universe – in faith there is more. This is Star Wars.
Take this from Jesus;
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. – John 14: 12-14.
This, is Jesus.
He is an invitation to believe in the impossible, and how it is an invitation we should take!
Over the past couple of years I have worked with both highly missional people and their organizations. God always seems to send me to work with those on the edge. In that time I have learned that when we get it right, when we step into Jesus’ Kingdom in faith, miracles occur. I have seen orphans get medical care, churches change to a better course, pastors become greater leaders, and literally millions of dollars offered to alleviate suffering and build hope. None of that happens – I will say it again – none of that happens without faith.
Jesus was right. Or to say it Yoda style, Right, Jesus was. There is a force out there trying to help us. Maybe it is time to make the tough question from Star Wars our own and ask…
Is it a lack of faith that is causing you to fail?
